Clash of Clans and Clash Royale getting boring? Introducing the new game by Supercell, Brawl Stars. Brawl Stars uses the same game mechanics as Clash Royale and Clash of Clans, but combines the two to create a unique top down game. The game was first released in Canada, most of Europe, and South East Asia on June 14th, 2017. Almost two years later, on December 12th, 2018, the game came out globally.
Not only has the game received great critical reviews, but it has stayed on the top 10 IOS games ranking chart for over a month now. “Brawl stars is fun because it mixes the elements of Clash of Clans and Clash Royale together, making the game very fun to play” said Brawl Stars gamer Tyler Sholtis. What makes Brawl Stars unique is the way the game works. Players receive cards from chests they unlock while playing the game. The chests contain various cards inside, from new characters, to power ups that increase character levels. This type of progression system keeps players engaged and motivated to keep playing.
Brawl Stars is also a economic success. The game made over ten million dollars within its first week on the app store, and clocked in over fifteen million players within that same week. Although these numbers don’t beat the previous game, Clash of Clans, it’s still good to see that the game didn’t fail. “Brawl Stars is really fun, but I can’t play it on my phone because it’s really slow sometimes” said Brawl Stars gamer Gabe Murphy.
Although many gamers like the new game, there are some that dislike it. “I like Clash Royale better because it’s more of an Alpha game. Brawl Stars just takes up too much time and isn’t really fun. The progression system is also horrible” said Clash Royale gamer Isaac Montieth. The gamers that dislike the game dislike it for small problems that ruin the experience. “My chests never open and it’s super slow” said Black Ops 4 gamer John Golden. Although John dislikes the game and doesn’t play it, he still believes the game is good and should stay on the app store.
Regardless of the criticism, Brawl Stars has had a phenomenal first month on the U.S app store, and based off player counts and reviews, the game is here to stay.
